Sabine River 5/19
ran out to sabine river this mornin before work with a buddy... made a short run to the spot and got there about 6 and the tide was slow going out but the fish were active, chasing shad and shrimp. we started out with poppers and quickly started catching. the topwater bite slowed as the tide turned around so i picked up the d.o.a. shrimp and it was back on. 30 mins later the tide started rollin the other way and the topwater bite turned back on. we had about 40 bass in 2 1/2 hrs, lots were non-keepers, but we had a blast!
the baits we used were bone/chart zell pop, bone pop-r, glow doa and clear/gold 1/4oz. doa shrimp. lots of shad but they didn't seem to be on a shad/crank bite. they's after da skrimps! |
Sweet! I would love to check out that area one day.
