fool and austin 7/27 reds

set out this a.m to go for reds at barrier/lake charles...waded a lil NOTHING! fished from the boat and got on em.


if i remeber right we had 13-14 fish total all day, 7 keeper reds,1 bass....released one keeper red (16 inches if you turned tail one way lol didn't want to be illegal, good thing b/c i got stop by the GW's!!

6 reds and 1 bass is what we kept, caught on topwater,rattle traps.


biggest was like 27 in. smallest 17 or 18 in.

yup they still around, which if you find em, normally reds are there...birds are working, just get deep(below lady fish) and you find the reds. (rattle traps ;) when under birds)



the bass looked strange!! didn't even look like a large mouth, (didn't have bars) weighed it weighed 1 lb

water was LOW! nobody really fished the birds (must be b/c lady fish) we fished the birds few times and caught reds.

Me and the step son went last week and fished a group of birds close to the rail road bridge and caught some specks and reds on tops.... step son was fishing gulp under a cork and caught some huge gaftop. But yeah the lady's was horrible. But fun on top. Them lady's was flyin out the water.

like miniature tarpon!!! we was catching monster lady fish today...you know when you hook a red/speck it pulls drag and doesn't jump...
