New GPS for Boat

I am looking at buying a new GPS for my fresh water boat. I want a garmin because I already have the TOPO program for them. I had a hand held Garmin C76. I would like to upgrade to a dash mount GPS. Any recommendations. Looking to spend no more than $500.00:help:

I have always been a Lowrance man and did own a Garmin 682 several years ago that worked fine. I update to the Lowrance 527 two years ago and loved it. However, I recently installed a new Lowrance in my dad's boat and I must say, they screwed up a good thing. Functions and ease of use are not the same. The screen is nicer, but the actual running of the device to me is not as easy.

Now, while we are talking about it. I went out on a 31' Contender a few weeks ago and it was tricked out with a huge Garmin system. It will surely be the way I go in the future. This thing had a display the size of a small TV and everything was incorporated to the one screen - GPS, Sounder, Radar, Sirius Radio, and weather overlay. Very fine electronics package!

I've been looking at them also...........Garmin is the $hit!! I ws looking at the 540? i think........it has all the coastal maps...........is it the 530 or 520 that ONLY has inland lakes??? Look into the upgrade sd program............it's all satalite imagery.............super cool!!! and very clear screen w/ lots-o-pixels!!!!!!!!!

Garmin, Raymarine and Furuno are all hard to beat. I have a Garmin on my big boat and a Hummingbird fishfinder/GPS combo on my small boat. The Hummingbird is nothing to talk about. I love the Garmin a lot better.
