The Noble rig Clyde Boudreaux being loaded and transported from the Gulf of Mexico to Brazil aboard the vessel Mighty Servant. Pretty impressive sight!

Ray 03-24-2011 05:24 PM

Big issue is we are losing a rig from the Gulf of Mexico to Brazil.

Please expand on this:(

W's president was just down there in Brazil and oil was the topic of discussion.

Dink 03-24-2011 07:11 PM

I think he gave Brazil 2billion or 200billion to help with they're oil exploration and underwater pipelines.......how you like them apples!!???

And you dont hear about it cause of lybia

This is what George Soros wants. Obama is his puppet. The more drilling rigs Soros gets to Brazil the more money in Soros pocket and Obama.

whunter29 03-24-2011 11:05 PM

If this country is to survive we must not give Obama a second term or we will be the United States of Muslim.

Dink 03-24-2011 11:47 PM

Soros is no longer a share holder in Brazil's oil company

bay_slayer 03-25-2011 02:20 AM

I worked on that rig before............nice accommodations for sure

Ray 03-25-2011 06:44 AM

When a contract is written, 5 or 10 years, that rig will be under contract in Brazil for that time. We won't see it here again in the Gulf for at least that long.
Less rigs, less drilling.
We just picked up another deepwater rig from Noble. They were hard to find before the moritorium. Now we just hafta pay the day rate and hope we can get a few permits approved so it can drill.

Raymond 03-25-2011 07:15 AM

Ray, please tell us how many deepwater rigs there are in existence? How many are in our gulf and what the average build time per rig is? The same thing happened in the 80's and our drilling programs were crippled for quite some time. Remember the left said it would take 5-10 years to bring ANWAR and ultra deepwater online, now it will be 20yrs!

Ray 03-25-2011 07:55 AM

I don't know how many there are in the world or how many there are in the GOM.
I can see the rig numbers in the GOM, but don't know how many are deepwater rigs.

How long it takes to build depends on how long it takes to design one. If they use a previous design, that would cut it down drastically. Just the purchase work and build. And you have a few months for the shipyards to figure out what to bid. Steel prices and availability affect the length of time too.
The hull is massive and very complicated on the inside. The topsides can be built in modules and set when each is finished.

ray
do you work ing production or drilling. my father in law works for shell, he is a completion foreman. he was working the perdido wells before moritorium.

Big Ridge 03-25-2011 08:24 AM

Ray, we loaded 2 TLP's in Korea that we sent to Africa on that vessel very cool to see that being done. Have some pictures somewhere.

Ray 03-25-2011 08:25 AM

Production, on Ursa off of Venice.
I have a few past co-workers that work on Perdido.
