I had a good friend go about a week ago back behind Grand bayou and said it was really slow catching crabs.

Was there yesterday and they were all small

When it's cold, they bury up till the sun warms up the water.
As soon as the water temps. get up, you will catch.

For some strange reason you can tear up the crabs in the coldest winter days in rockefeller refuge. Someone I work with catches them year round over there. Big ones too.

If water is deeper, they will be there. Or running from deep to shallow.
