What size boat. What you wanna catch.

muttmechanic 03-02-2011 01:01 PM

1436 flatboat. I'd like to catch some reds haven't had much luck with them in the rigolets. I'm not picky though

yak'em-n-stack'em 03-02-2011 01:03 PM

If you just wanna catch. Go to the damn.

Leave bsm. Hang a right when you get to the mrgo and go soak some shrimp

Dink 03-02-2011 01:18 PM

On a serious note.....I remember last spring there were some reports of trout at the new mrgo rock dam

And 300 boats. Pass up the MRGO and go a few miles further up the channel leaving Breton sound and try out Stump Lagoon. Get a map at the marina!

Back side of the MRGO Dam is the place to be kills no boats and reds stacked...but it's hard to get to by boat....so pretty much head down la loutra like southern said and get lost in the marsh with some spinner baits...reds are everywheres out there..

muttmechanic 03-02-2011 06:34 PM

what about flounder or some trout? Where is this MRGO dam? Is it somethin you see on the road coming in or am I just being dumb and can't see something obvious on google earth?

Hopedale Hustler 03-02-2011 08:45 PM

Launch your boat and head east from the marina and wen u get into the ship channel about 500 yards from the marina look to your right and you can't miss it...

Hopedale Hustler 03-02-2011 09:03 PM

muttmechanic 03-02-2011 10:13 PM

I guess I'm not the only one who has caught fish and tore up a prop hub fishing in Stump lagoon,

Hopedale Hustler 03-03-2011 05:32 AM

I've never tore up a prop in stump but I have in drum...stump is only bad on a hard north west wind when the tide is down....

LPfishnTIM 03-03-2011 11:25 PM

I messed mine up in crooked bayou on the way to lake eugene which is a good place to fish if you don't mind going further than the stumps!
