need some opinions

i got a 55hp johnson commercial on my 14 foot crawfish skiff. the motor is a longshaft. i bought a jackplate. with everything mounted and the jack plate as high as it will go the cavitation plate is 1 inch below the bottom of the boat still. what can i expect with this scenario. i really do not want to drill more holes. i ran it today briefly. never got wide open at about 3/4 throttle a little water splashes straight up from behind the boat. not much. is raising it that one inch worth all that. does any one else have a motor where the cavitiation plate is below the bottom of the boat? pros vs cons?? the boat is a flat bottom. i really aint to worried about speed considering the size of the motor in relation to the boat.

14' and 55 should bounce a bit at wot but you can move gas to front and weld trim tabs on back. That unit should be a screamer at wot so make sure safety gear is on.

Are you trying to be "Troy Jr"?????????:*****:

it wasn't that bad.i ran it but i was a little to nervy to get it up to WOT for the first time. my fuel tank is mounted in the front and it holds 20 gallons so that helps out alot. its got welded on trim tabs. at 1/4 throttle it jumps a little. hammer down to 3/4 throttle and it runs smooth. now at WOT i do not have a clue. 3/4 throttle felt like 90mph in that little boat. it hauls butt. what does troy jr. have on back of his. i know troy got a 90 wit a handle.
