Rayne Deer

2 Attachment(s)
Duckaholic called me this morning to ask where I was located, knowing we both go through Rayne in the mornings heading to the office. I said I was in Rayne, and he informs me of a nice 8 point that was dead at the bridge on Standard Mill Rd.

Being the curious guy I am, I immediately headed that way, and by the time I got there, the locals were loading him up! Took a couple of pics and figured I would post them here! Apparently hit by vehicle just before daylight, wasn't even stiff yet!

You do realize that rigormortis is not permanant right? Meaning when it is freshly killed, it will not be stiff. Then rigor will set in and it will be stiff. Then rigor will wear off and it will not be stiff any longer. If you have ever hunted ducks. You have seen stiff ducks in the blind. But, by the time you get home with them, none of them are stiff any more.

Brian wouldn't know that cause he's never hunted or been a paramedic before.......he's just an all around dummy.....

Wow is all I can say!!!!!!!!:confused::confused::confused ::confused:

LPfishnTIM 10-21-2010 08:10 PM

there is different mortis rigor and vigor if blood had settled to the lowest point of the deer and it wasn't stiff, I would be worried, if it wasn't stiff and blood didn't settle you can expect that time of death was less than an hour.

crime scene classes I took in college we talked about estimating time of death you first can tell by the body being stiff then the blood will settle then blow flies come and start eating and laying eggs and the eggs start hatching and you can tell time of death by how far flies and there eggs are from the corpse.

Rigor and post- rigor. A term used in the forensic world. Don't you watch CSI?!!!! Lol

it is a real deal though from what I have read...

Finfeatherfur 10-22-2010 10:11 AM

You guys crack me up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't post the pic up here to have a frickin class on rigor mortis. Whatever you think you know about rigor, I can teach the class you numb nuts!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!

It's a frickin deer, hit by a vehicle, in an area we don't normally see deer in. It's cool to see since most of us from my area drive hours to go deer hunting and they are around our homes in Acadia Parish. I didn't clean the deer, I don't personally know the people that loaded it up and cleaned it. I could give a rats A** if it was 4 minutes or 4 hours old........ Jeeeeeese! Go read a book or something - The deer was dead exactly 3 hours 07 minutes................... I took it's liver tempature and drew 50ml thoracic blood w/ an intracardiac needle for specific DNA profiles.

Dink 10-22-2010 10:21 AM

LMAO!!!!! you big dummy
