muscadines

anyone in the BR area got some vines?

i want to pick some

Cutty713 08-23-2010 11:50 AM

No, but I now know how to answer your "can I bring anything" question when we finally get to make a fishing trip. Muscadine wine will be my answer.

longsidelandry 08-23-2010 12:02 PM

Let me know if you find some somewhere, I wanna make some wine.

Cutty713 08-23-2010 12:06 PM

fruit stand between HWY190 and I-10 in Port Allen/Lottie?

jpeff31787 08-23-2010 12:19 PM

Is this the time of year they grow? If so i know where I'm going! Little alabama in krotz springs. They are everywhere along the lake, good bass fishing too

wtretrievers 08-23-2010 12:21 PM

Ross, I'll check where I'm staying, vines everywhere haven't checked to see if there's any on em

yak'em-n-stack'em 08-23-2010 12:22 PM

Yeah they should be about ready. Do they have them out there? If so I'm going today and bringing the yak. I love fishing out there

specktator 08-23-2010 12:22 PM

Got an old boy that used to work for my dad brings a few bottles over every couple months. I love it, but none of my friends will drink it. I think it tastes great and gets u hammered. Prob got about 5-6 bottles at my deer camp and another 3-4 at my dads house.

yak'em-n-stack'em 08-23-2010 12:22 PM

That's what I plan on doing ross

simplepeddler 08-23-2010 12:35 PM

Mine are all still green.......

Hard to get to too, high up.
I just wait till they fall and pick them off the ground.
you are welcome to come by, but it's tough go if you need enough to make wine.

RaginCagin 08-23-2010 12:48 PM

They should be ready, my hunting lease is covered with them on one of my shooting lanes. I had to cut alot of the vines down last weekend so I could see down my lanes. I would say come get all you want but its in Avoyelles Parish and after rains last weekend we have anywhere from 2-4 foot of water on the lease right now.

Take a cane pole and make a hook out of a coat hanger .Duct tape the hook to the end of the pole .works great for picking muscidines ,pears etc anything to high to reach.

we used to find a bunch around johnson bayou.. pretty darn good paddle though. Good luck and let me know if you catch anything. Watermelon red flukes and shad colored crankbaits should be kicking right about now. I like that crankbait by the deep structure.

huntin fool 08-23-2010 05:06 PM

we got a whole mess of them..

BIGJ 08-23-2010 05:16 PM

Theres a good crop of them this year and about half of them are ripe right now.

Ray 08-23-2010 08:07 PM

Before Rita, they grew wild on the fence lines on the front
ridge road between Cameron and Rutherfords Beach.
