Black gnats

Been debating whether to post this but.....
For what it's worth...
Black Gnats are around and actually killed two of our macaws a couple weeks ago.

Watch for chickens, quails or any exotic birds that are kept outside.

what the heck is a black gnat?

simplepeddler 05-24-2010 09:05 PM

Dr. Lane Foil (LSU entomologist) says they are actually a type of fly.
commonly referred to as black gnat of buffalo gnat.

soon to me gone. circumstances of cooler weather kept the breeding cycle longer and more productive.....
Just my flippin luck......pets that we have had for years and expected to have for generations....gone

Have an African Grey and have some concern. Never heard of this before.

We get them in the spring at our fishing camp around Lake Mary (MS). So bad that you have to wear a head net to keep them out you're eyes, nose & mouth. Have been biten to the point that the glands in my neck were swollen.

bad in bolivar tx too. avon skin-so-soft keeps them at bay. but you have to smell like a french (paris :)) whore...don't know which is worse.
