need opions

i have an 09 truck that has about 35k on it. anyway i brought it to a dealership to have some warranty work done. well i left it the weekend. they call me monday (yesterday) and i was thinking it was finished. the lady said there was an accident. my truck was wrecked, they backed it into a parked car. i haven't seen it but the service manager said the bumper is caved in ( broke one of the bumper mounts) and driver side rear has some paint missing. i am sure this is putting it easy so i wouldn't blow up.

now this truck is perfect not a scratch or anything. they said they can match the paint perfect (doubtful). They said they would fix everything but i kinda feel like im paying for a new truck that ain't so new anymore. should i make a big deal out of this. what are my options. or am i just being a *****. I kinda feel like im getting the raw end of this deal

you would have to be driving pretty fast to break a bumper mount there is more to this story than they are telling you...im not sure what you can do but i would raise some hell because now that it has been wrecked the resale value is lowered...

wtretrievers 05-04-2010 02:30 PM

Tell them you would like to pick a new one out off the lot & see what they say.

Waterbowl 05-04-2010 02:34 PM

Call your insurance so they will use a independent adjuster. If they volunteer to just fix it you might never know the true damage until it is to late.

meaux fishing 05-04-2010 02:34 PM

also tell them to give you a truck right now to drive since they wrecked yours

Dink 05-04-2010 02:57 PM

Put pox on the case......he's ruthless!!

Same dealer you bought it from?
Hell......that's not even the truck you wanted.....tell them to. Put. The bumper on that you originally wanted with the exhaust going g thru it.....once they agree to that tell them you'll think about it

adamsfence 05-04-2010 03:02 PM

i just talked to them and told them i want retail value for my truck. he said he would call me back in about an hour he would have to get the owner involved. i will play the game for a little while and see if they can make me feel warm and fuzzy. i just don't think i should come out on the losing side of this

They'll try & play their own game which will leave you feeling frustrated & pissed off!:pissed:

You are SOL...
Read the fine print of the document you signed authorizing them to do the work...

Yea Im pretty sure your screwed. no offense but they gonna fix it and thats that. Some one rear ended my truck a few months back. I wanted a new tailgate out the deal. I didn't want some bondo'd up and repainted tailgate. I kept pushing the issue but no dice. But I did come out better. I ended up having a local guy repair the tailgate for cheap, and got a Road Armor bumper out the deal. so even though I didn't totally get what I wanted, I definitely came out better on the deal. Now if anyone rear ends me, its gonna DEEmolish the front of their car

Dink 05-04-2010 03:12 PM

I agree win meaux too......must have been hauling *** backwards to have busted it up so bad......get pics when you go in the morning....can't wait to see this

blackmamba 05-04-2010 03:14 PM

I'd try to get a new truck out of them. If you didn't wreck it yourself and the value drops bc of their carelessness they should do something for you. Start high and see what happens.

I'd get a copy & show your lawyer the fine print & let him tell you. Somethings aren't worth the paper it was written on, whether you signed it or not.

adamsfence 05-04-2010 03:29 PM

the guy called me back and told me the only thing wrong is the bumper mount. and they would take care of it. im going to go get my truck this evening and find out what is actually wrong with it. i can't argue if i don't see it with my own eyes......he did say that if i wasn't satisfied they would do what it took to make me happy so. i just can't believe that it broke the bumper mount and didn't do any damage i think they are trying to put the root in me with out the vaseline. there is too many conflicting stories and when i talk to the one that told me the first story they change there original story so. im going to get it before they try to cover it up

Sorry Meaux but, this is not correct. If the repairs are made professionally, it will have no effect on resale. I recently repaired my neighbor's Expedition before he traded it in($1700 worth of repairs). The dealer went over it with a fine tooth comb and never even noticed what I had fixed which was the hood, headlamp, grille and bumper.

The only way this may have any truth would be if they reported it to carfax. BTW, unless it's totalled, flooded or stolen, most accidents aren't reported to them. That is at the insurance company's discretion.

Things happen and no one was hurt. Let them fix your vehicle. I'm sure they are gonna make sure that the repairs are 100% professional, especially given the circumstances. Also, color matching isn't always as tricky as people make it out to be when you have the area to blend the colors.

Give em a chance to fix what they screwed up on. Or, tell em you want my shop to fix it!!!!! I'll hook ya up!:D

I was backed into in my company van, 6k damage done to me and it only broke the taillight on the truck that ran into me. The bumper looked fine.
