Do you really think the trout disappear when the shrimp population declines? But different forage requires different fishing approaches. The fish are all still there, either in the lake or in the near shore Gulf, you just have to figure out how to catch them.

Stop blaming the government for your inability to find the trout, and start praying for rain if you want the weirs open more days out of the year. There were plenty of trout in May and June, and they were growing fast, well fed, and healthy. If the food has slowed since July, they should be easy to catch (since they are hungrier) once you find them.
That boy w doesn't know anything about a trouts feeding cycle. The only cycle he's familiar with is his monthly one. Keep making maw an paw proud of their creation stumpy.

I've got one Saturday and it's gonna be tough. I fished from daylight until 9:30 today and had 3 trout. Started to get hot and frustrating so I went home lol

Hope the trout bite gets better for yall once the fronts start coming down. I will be chasing the less desirable redfish and flounder this weekend hopefully.

Redfish are thick. Trout are spotty but they're around I haven't been since Monday but been catching lots of short fish with schools of pogey. Think I have my boat almost tweaked perfect. I'll be out for sure Sunday morning!

Live finger mullet Carolina rigged on points with current breaks or bouncing plastic off the bottom at same points. You'll pick up some into the fall. I usually catch some really nice ones in October and November.

Yep...they really like chartruse gulp swimming mullet too. Gulp shrimp works but I find they hit the swim mullet better, just gets old loosing the tails to croakers.
