I don't think the retractable retrievers will reach a lure that's 20' down? I use the lure hound on a old reel as mentioned above and 9/10 I get my cranks back.

Yes sir that's the retriever I use. Like I said it is not 100% but it will work 9 out of 10. I throw 6XD and 10XD a lot and this lure hound has saved lots of money.

I would imagine you could reach a few more feet if ya lean over with arm outstretched...with out falling in of coarse

sounds like a good deal... you would have to use that 90$ retriever atleast 12X to break even. the hound is like 8$.

All you'll need to break even is get back just half of a 10XD. |

The retractable ones work the best. Unfortunately they won't reach deep divers😕. They are perfect for square bills and 9-10 footers. They also keep you from breaking off your rod tips. Whoever invented any retriever has their spot in heaven 😇!

When we bought the camp, the previous owner left a 20 year old lightning rod, 7' MH. I've been throwing a 10XD on that relic. They both weigh a ton. I've been throwing it on 12# CXX P Line. I keep waiting on the rod to snap while it's loaded up during a cast. I haven't caught a fish on it yet. I also use the lure retriever from Academy. That thing will pay for it self in one trip.

How do I post a pic on here? I caught a Slaunch Donkey on a 10XD in Toledo this Sunday. Trying to send from my iPhone.

7.63 july toledo bass.jpg 7.63 caught last sunday on a 10XD in 27' of water on a ledge in Toledo bend. I was using a Castaway 7'6 Long Launcher on 12# Sunline Sniper FC with Revo winch. The set up worked perfect.

In 27' of water and a good 50yrd cast within 10 cranks of the Revo winch the plug was dragging bottom. I caught the fish on the 3rd cast of using the big plug. Definitely not the last time I'm going to throw it. It was fun

Did it hammer it or did it just feel heavy? Fishing a crankbait that deep is a whole new world.

Almost pulled the rod out of my hand. But she choked it! The big hooks tore some gill plates. She died
