I shared the same concerns until I rode in one. I rode in the 4 seater and that thing is very nice. A comfortable ride and didn't spin a tire. My only concern would be crossing levees with the long wheel base. But it was nice layin all our stuff in the bed and everyone having our own seat

Cheap cheap..... They don't have many in stock right now but some are being shipped now. When the shipment comes in they will have 27 and 30 " in 12 and 14" rim sizes. Compare the weight of these tires to the other big mud tires on the market and it is a no brainer. They are not Outlaws or Silverbacks but they are the best bang for your hard earned buck in my personal opinion.

Back on track, I have seen more than one electric shift go out on a Honda. I think it is a nice feature but not a necessary one. Hondas automatic doesn't have a belt but the brands that do they can get wet and slip. Most honda owners who have an automatic they run mud tires install a gear reduction to be able to turn over the tires. Check out Highlifter.com/forum and they can steer you in the right direction.

I talked him into parking it on the levee. Just to the south of us the tractors and combines run on tracks instead of tires. Sticky sticky black jack mud. When I was crawfishing the property, Doliver was working with me when we stuck my Versatile out there one day. Those SideXSides are awsome in most situations though. Tight woods suck on one also.

I prefer manual shift though.
That wasn't me in Welsh Saturday with that fourtrax

I've rode both, in both mud riding and field conditions, and the manual is the way to go all the way.

I have the Rubicon. It's a 2007 model. I have rode atv trails from Louisiana all the way up to Wyoming and Montana..... Only thing I ever had to do was re-jet for higher altitudes.

Never had an issue with the automatic. I love it. Just get on and give it the gas.... It's a great bike.

Which one?

I like Honda, but on the Rancher the 4X4 is horrible. If you are looking for a 4X2 to ride over flat land, great, it will run forever.

I definitely think it was a good decision, I wouldnt want to find out if ya'lls 2 bikes would have pulled mine out had I gotten stuck in that soup.

I've never heard this complaint. Only frequent complaint I've heard is brakes goin out. Most of the Hondas around here are beaten in the woods and fields and they still find a way to get the job done.

X2. I had a 350 rancher in high school and abused that thing in the mud like crazy and couldnt kill it. I have a 420 rancher manual shift now and its a beast also.

i had the rancher 420 AT with IRS. It was a turd in the mud. its geared very high. higher than the SRA bikes. Its a very comfortable ride with the IRS suspension if your not going to carry a load other than your self. also you cant hook a trailer to it either. would def stay away from the 420 AT IRS if you plan to do anything other than ride in the woods to a deer stand.

You wouldn't even wanna know what my 350 rancher has been through. It's amazing that it still runs. Been running on milk oil for years lol. Those bikes are unkillable.

I have a 2002 honda 450ES 15k miles, 5k hours on motor, 3 sets of tires, one battery, and exhaust pipe are the only repairs ever made to the bike, Can't beat a Honda!

I have a 2005 Rancher ES and only thing I wish I could do different is have the fuel injection. These bikes run forever and will get you where you need to go and back within reason and some common sense but if you need a work bike to pull trailers and drag a load then buy you a Foreman or if you want something to play in the mud and tear up...... well buy something other then a Honda and get you a big tool box and have extra parts on hand

I picked up my 420 Honda Rancher (fuel injection) today. I got the plan ole manuel shift, camo color, straight rear shaft. I added the front basket and rear rack. Plus I decided to buy a trailer (5 x 10) to load it in. Gonna pick up my vampire tires 26" next week. I will post pics tomorrow.

Vampires are bad ***. You should really consider the regular swampers. The will get you through any rice field and won't tear up your yard.

We have vampires on both bikes. They will tear your yard up, that's a fact. As far as tearing up your bike, they have given us no trouble but we only use the bikes for hunting and don't do trail riding

I really will NOT be riding my bike with the vimpire tires in the yard. I will only put on the vimpire tires during hunting season (I am also buying rims for them) in which I will leave my bike and trailer at my in laws in Rayne. My uncle has some vampires on his foreman 500 that do well. At first he put on the mud lite tire and all they would do is spin in the water / mud. I have no history of the swampers.
