I don't know how far Hopedale is for you but Big Lake is about 2.5 hours west of the Mississippi river.

Sometimes you can catch Redfish in the Lake Charles area.....Not too good right now....too much fresh water. Lake Charles would be just under 2 hours starting from the Mississippi river bridge.
