Made my first trip fishing Big Lake yesterday, and it was the first time I've been in this boat ( company boat to take customers). Headed south to a few spots throwing catch 2000, gulp white/chartreuse, natural, and blood?/chart shrimps with nothing. The youngens had some hits while popping dead shrimp under ratttlin' corks, but never managed a hookset. Gave up on that and went ride, if I saw something I liked I fished it trying to get the boys hooked up.
My 5 year old managed a foul hooked croaker and a 14" (8lb?!) red. I landed a sheepshead, chunked it back.
Great day on the BL with the family, got off the water at 1500 and it was getting ugly crossing back to Hebert's. went ride north and came down from Turners island area to get a feel for the boat in some good wave action - kids loved the jumps, I didn't!
First pic is of us heading back to the landing.
