CCW for Him & Her

My wife told me the other day that all the media talk was starting to get to her and she didn't feel safe in some situations. She said she would like to have a handgun and she would like to learn how to use it. I've been wanting to do this for a while so I was pretty excited when it was her idea.

I suggested to her that we both purchase a gun suitable for our needs and we could take the CCW class together so she could get some experience with her new weapon from a qualified person.

Leaning towards the S&W Bodyguard or Ruger LCR in .38 for my wife
Leaning towards a Sig P238 .380 or a S&W Shield 9mm for myself.

My needs are something lightweight and reliable for CC... hers are something that she feels comfortable carrying and using if the need arises.

Opening it up to you guys for your suggestions on what we should get... and Best place to go around Lake Charles? Gator Guns?
