I like to see this happen in Louisiana

I wasn't sure wheather to put this threadin the hunting, or fishing section so I put it here. The link is to an article that covers an open season on the federally protected comorant in South Carolina's Santee Cooper lakes. I think Louisiana should do the same thing because them nasty bastids are everywhere.

They did a study in Minnesota a while back and everyone seemed surprised at how much impact the cormorants had on fish populations. They allowed the birds to be thinned out to help the fish stocks.
I sure would like to see that done down here. They seem to be everywhere.

I've seen cormorants far inland where I would have never thought you would see one. On small ponds out in the middle of the woods. Seems as though we have so many that they are forced to disburse far distances.

We really do need to get rid of them. It's amazing how many are in places like Henderson and they eat a lot of sport fish.

if there is a season we all need to know the differences between and anhinga and cormorant...these two look very similar, except the cormorant has hooked beak on the end....and the anhinga is a straight beak FYI
