livewell issues

When I put my boat in the water, one or both of the livewells fill up even though the pumps are not on. I've also had trouble getting them to drain when I pull the plugs in and out of the water. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Is there a valve you can close between the intake and live well?

Mine does the same thing if I don't close the valves

My boat had the white fitting in the picture. I bought the whole thing and just used the black piece. Just unscrew a little to let water in and screw tight to stop the water.. And as far as emptying both of my boats had to be running to empty faster or completely.

Yeah. I have a quarter turn valve that will block in the pumps intake. I'll close it, and see if that fixes the problem
