Didn't weigh any for star but biggest one was right under 10lbs.

Best thing to help me catch em was the right rod n reel . Rod -shimano trevala heavy, reel-shimano bait runner . First I start to chum em up with cut pogie , few pcs at a time just enough to get em curious but not a meal , then a tiny tiny circle hook I think a #4 frenzy I either bury it in a pc of cut pogie or a live shrimp hooked thru the head horn . I never use croaker cuz they r to hard to keep alive . In clean water I start out with 40lb fluorocarbon but move down in size if they won't hit it. So I cast up to the rig n that shimano bait runner has a little lever u flip which allows you to feed line of so there is NO tension on drifting chunk of shrimp . Yellow power pro helps , just watch your line n it's like catching bass you'll see slack start to come out of the line , BOOM set the hook n pull em out the rig by walking to back of boat.
