Default anyone ever chum for trout/redfish/sheepshead/drum?

I read an article of a guide who chums with pogy oil and dog food for specks. Has anyone ever tried doing this or heard anything? thanks

Tim!!!! We had that chum bucket doin flips , barrel rolls and nose dives all over big lake!!
That slick was from turners to lambert weir!!
