Fool when was your canal dugout? Which land owner dug the canal? I have seen you also reference the culverts as 'our' culvert. Did the land/homeowners install the big culverts or did the parish/state install the culverts under SPFR?

Kinchen, I am of the same consideration and view point as you are on majority of this.

The canal was dugout when they logged the canal. If you say mine isn't private, go down into the 4th culvert of mistreda's.

If this canal was dug for drainage by a public entity it makes it public. There is a canal that has the land owners that border it claim it private, it has even been to court and the land owners have lost. The reason being is the parish drainage board paid to have the canal dug also after it was dug, LDWF paid to put in a launch. A lot has to do with different variables.

Another body of water that was once private which not many people know is White Lake, in Vermilion parish. The lake was landlocked before the old Intracoastal was dug and the oilfield came in and drilled.

Also from schools I have been to for work, the government defines navigable waters as any water that flows to a natural body of water. The example that was given is this; "the road ditch, that you keep up, if it drains to a natural lake, river, or stream is indeed navigable if it can float a toothpick at least one time in a 365 day period".

We were told it was not navigable due to the depth and due to who dug it.. I also searched the law awhile back. I'm posting on phone.

However, not to argue, but the drainage into a public water is not true. As the Little Burns Drains through this canal, and every part of the little burns are private, hints where I got busted when I was 9
