went down to chauvin to do some kayak fishing today. the weather channel said the temp was 29. we didn't rush to get on the water this morning. we got on the water @ 7 am. i took a 5 min paddle from the sandpiper launch to my first spot. within my first 5 cast i hooked up a small red. i made @ 5 more cast hooked up with my first keeper red, after that one i caught 3 keeper reds back to back . took a break to make me a stringer because the ice chest was full with the 3 i had in there.started fishing again and within a few cast i sealed the deal at 8 am with #5. my day was made ! the bad part is that i fished from 8 am till 1230 without a bite. the bait of choice was a black & chart. cocahoe under a cajun thunder. the water look good despite all the winds we had.once the sun come out it warmed up a lil and it turned into a nice day. i had a blast on the cajun sleigh ride.
