Default Last Few Trips on Big Lake

May is my favorite month to fish Big Lake and I have been doing a lot of it. Last Friday I had a friend and his dad we didn't limit out but had our limit of trout over 25". Caught everything on 4" swim baits and Downsouth plastics. Water was off colored and on the fresh side so Purple/Chartreuse and Glow/Chartreuse were the colors of the day. Saturday I fished with my favorite fishing partner, my buddies 12 year old son and another good friend in his boat. We fished hard all day and ended up with a 3 man limit of trout and a few reds. Caught a lot more reds but didn't have room in the box for them so they were set free. Sunday and Monday I fished solo and had a limit of trout and a limit of reds both days. They are biting on a variety of baits and don't seem to be too picky as long as you can get it in front of them at the right depth. There are lots of birds working over popping shrimp on the South end of the lake but I have caught very few keepers under them. Not much coming from topwater either despite wearing out my wrist trying to get one to snatch my Skitter Walker. Fish seem to be feeding on the bottom in 4 to 6' of water. The bite has been best during the first couple of hours of daylight so get out early.
