Capt. Michael Walker and Salt Walker Fishing Charters is the premier charter company in South Padre and gives anglers the chance to experience a variety of offshore fishing opportunities. Capt. Walker has extensive experience fishing throughout the Gulf of Mexico but has settled in as one of the top charter captains in South Padre. The Salt Walker is a 45’ custom sportfisher that is fully equipped for serious fishing trips as well as the comfort of passengers. The boat is stocked with the finest fishing gear including Penn International and Shimano rods and reels, as well as the latest safety equipment. Fishing off South Padre is great year round, and depending on season, trips on Salt Walker may target amberjack, yellowfin tuna, red snapper, grouper, king mackerel, dorado, cobia, wahoo, and marlin. Trips are available from five hours up to 36 hour overnighters. South Padre is the closest port to the Perdido Spar, the world’s deepest floating oil platform, and Salt Walker’s signature trips are 36 hour excursions to fish the 8,000’ depths around Perdido. Big yellowfin tuna, plentiful blackfin tuna, dorado and wahoo frequent the rig and these overnight trips typically fill the fish boxes with them. In the summer months blue marlin are commonplace, and most overnight trips include a stop for swordfish and bottom fishing for amberjack, grouper and snapper. If you are lucky enough to be a local or you are planning a trip to South Padre Island, give Captain Michael Walker and Salt Walker Charters a call to plan your fishing adventure!
