Here is a west coast nightmare for you.

Was commercial fishing on a drag boat many years ago. We must have got him when we were dropping the trawl but we got a 1000 lb bull sea lion in the bag and dragged him around for 12 hours at 600 fathoms. There his 40 percent fat carcass started to aneroebically decompose immediately. We found him in the bag and usually it is no big deal. Hook him up wit the deck boom and swing him out of the bag, fill out the paperwork and report him to NOAA. The deck boom broke. Nice sunny day and 1200 lbs of dead seal meat sitting on the deck rapidly ruining 20,000 lbs of sablefish. But we came up with a solution. We keep a chainsaw on the boat for cutting up snag logs that get caught up in the net. I pitchforked, puked and almost died but in no more than three of four hours we had that 1800 lb sea lion out of the net and the deck cleared. I just went and puked a bit as I wrote this up.
