From the land of little trout. Deep in the marsh was good n' on til about 10 am with my pops. Delightful breeze for half hour at daylight, then slick calm and the flying teeth descended on us!
The fish didn't mind as the 14-16 inch trout smashes super spook jrs with fury. That big red was on the very first cast, so I felt compelled to keep it for courtbouillion and the ribs. Probably had only three fish approaching 20 inches, but the last one was a soul-satisfying flush at 100 feet. Good times!
Saw the first shrimp of the year pop, but most of the bait was bay anchovies and mullet, with a random needlefish. Did catch a few on plastic and mirrodines. Even boxed a few out of a fall spot duckpond. Tide was held up by the se wind early, but got its act together when the gnats came out.
A great trip w dad with 29 trout and two reds. Beat of all, no live bait,no corks! And finally got dad going with the topwaters!
