Default Transmission Troubles

Daughter took wife's 2004 Yukon to Lafayette today. When they got there the she said the truck stuttered and stopped going. The engine runs fine. We had it brought back to house in Moss Bluff. After being brought back home my wife got in it and started it up. She was able to back it up and move it forward for a short distance then it would just quit moving. I'm at work tonight and trying to get some trouble shooting ideas. Is there a sensor that will stop it from working on high temp or low fluid level in transmission. In my experience, when an automatic trans starts to go bad it just starts slipping. I've never had issues with a newer vehicle transmission and from what daughter and wife told me its not slipping, just quits working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Paul
