pumpkin pie help

So i bought a pumpkin pie at a bake sale thing to help the sulphur something or other team go to holland and i must say that it was the best pumpkin pie ive ever eaten. Ive had homemade and the kind out of the can. This wasnt creamy like the store bought, it was really thick. It also had some kind of like layer on the top it wasnt crunchy but you could tell it was there. This thing had so much flavor it was unreal.anybody have a recipe that sounds similar to this? Im starting to have withdrawls and need my fix
