Default Peninsula at Prien Lake Park

Last month, I had to do some work at the Calcasieu Parish courthouse, so I headed out early to fish the spot at the park where Henderson Bayou meets Prien. I pretty much always fish plastics (glow or charchuse Eel Jr.'s and H&H Sparkle beadles). I grew up fishing Grand Isle, but trying to learn SW LA now that I live closer towards Lake Charles.

Anyway...that day I headed out, the water was ugly, but had some movement and bait, and caught a couple keeper specks and a couple other throwbacks. Not bad I thought for conditions, and fished only about 1 1/2 before getting ready to head to courthouse.

So, being I had to do some work there today, I did the same thing. Water was clearer than the past time. Didn't seem to be much current, but there was mullet everywhere.

Only managed 2 throwback reds! No specks hit.

So I'm asking you experts...is along those rocks a decent place for land-locked folks like me? Is it worth it? A few boats stopped to fish on their way to 210 bridge, so I figured I was in a decent spot, but got skunked!
