Suspends the bait,sometimes trout will suspend instead of being on the top or on the bottom. When im having a hard time catching, sometimes the cork is what they want. If you get the rattle corks it makes a clicking sound that sounds alot like a scared shrimp. I normally use a sparkle beatle under a cork,but the DOA will work fine....there just so expensive for what you get. You can pick up a 10 pack of beatles for about 2.50

can;t be more right... i caught alot of trout with the "cocahoe minnow" in all black with chart. tail and all glow with chart. tail.... caught about 600+ in 5 days... alotta small one's and alot of white trout (which we used for bait) for dem BIG NASTIES.... poppin cork does immitate (SP?) a wounded or scared swimp..... they go crazy over them...
