Well the Sabine river was on fire this morning! Me and Mcjaredsandwich dropped in at the burnt out bridge a little after 6 this morning with plans of catching a few bass. Started out with topwaters at the end of b.o.b. canal and caught several feisty but small largemouths. As we rounded the end of the canal we saw bait being thrashed, so we tossed our poppers into the fray and immediately hooked up with keeper trout! Bass, trout and reds all stacked up in one hole..nice!
After catching several bass, small trout and ladyfish we headed south. We found another spot where they were stacked up and started hammering on em again. I tossed a small crank bait for two casts and caught two fish, but decided I'd rather see the strike so I went back to topwater. They bit all morning long and we left them biting at about 11:00. We ended up with 67 total trout/bass caught. I had 36, Jared had 31. I was throwing a pop-r, Jared used a baby chug bug, both baits were chrome belly w/ blue back.
