I put in at Hebert's and headed south. Water did not look very good and had a little brown color. The winds were blowing ~ 10 mph giving the lake some good "chop".
I fished a couple of spot where there was lots of bait and some birds flying around......but not really feeding. No strikes. The water down south......was a little worse. Maybe 4 to 6" visability. I was thinking that the winds should lay down later, so I headed to the East Cove marsh to see if I could catch anything there. I did not take long to start catching and in a little while they were "jumping" on my bait.....several at a time. The first picture is of 6 holding on as if it was there last meal. I was selective......and only kept # 1 size [over 6" tip to tip]. The 2 nd picture is some that I threw back. Many times most of these would be kept......but not toay. Last picture is the final ice chest shot....... 5 dozen all caught on fish heads. Getting ready to start cooking them. After catching the crabs.........I road westward and tried a few spots but I think these reef's had been dredged hard last month. I looked for slicks out in the lake and found a couple, but did not get any strikes. I headed in with only catching one fish that took about 20 minutes to land with 10# line. Would they like this one in TX? The Black Drum was ~ 39 inches which would make it ~ 27 lbs. (est) |
