The last few days I've been having to run all over the place desperately looking for anything willing to bite. Bull reds and drum have been lifesavers in this persistent high speed air movement. I made some decisions early today that turned into a pot of gold and I was relieved. This was day 2 with my customers from Mississippi and yesterday they had all they wanted bull reds and black drum. Today they wanted trout. I bounced around the lakes looking for birds and it just wasn't paying off. I made a move inland to a small bayou deep in the eastern marsh of lower Bayou Dularge. Then as luck would have it, I spotted some birds diving in a place they weren't supposed to be diving. That's when the thunder struck. Double and triple hookups occurred and the Kysek cooler began to flood with trout. When the smoke cleared we had 60 keepers and 20 or so throwbacks. With happy faces, we made one last stop and slammed the reds before calling it a day. It looks like the next few days will be a bust due to the front but after that it should be hammer time!
