10/8/17 Lower Calcasieu River

Brother in law and I hit the water around 10 and fished til about 3. We haven't been fishing in a few weeks so it was nice to get out. The weather however wasn't as enjoyable, damp, windy, and cold. We started off fishing for bass in a few places we like along the river. We caught some on crankbaits, paddletails, and a couple on top waters. We mixed in a few redfish and then ended the day stumbling on some speckled trout. It was definitely a mixed bag but a good time regardless. Final totals were 6 bass, 4 redfish, and 9 speckled trout.

How was the water? The tide should be rolling out with this front.

It was low and pretty clear in most of the areas we fished. We went through the saltwater barrier and it was running out hard.
