Default Fog then wind

Ran today for Super Strike Charters. It was a 2 boat trip of 6 guys. I had 3 guys from Nebraska. Frank of Fishing Frenzy had the other 3. We sat at the dock for quite a while and waited for the fog ease. It let up a bit but I was sure we would run into a block or 2 of it in the river. Frank and I decided to give it a go. We hit some very thick fog. Fortunately there was no boat traffic. It was very calm so any ripple would show up from all movement. Good thing the very dense fog patches were small.

Once in our general location Frank went one way and I ran another way. As soon as we started we had one on and it was a keeper.

Things were not right color wise and temp wise but it did not take long to get one to eat. I was explaining how these fish were fighters and they were making me a liar. They were not fighting due to the cold water. Soon after we get our second one and it is another good one.

As I work along the marsh we find another. Things are looking good under adverse conditions. The best thing I like is now every body on the boat has caught one. I hate when one customer is left out of the catching.

The further around we work the dirtier the water gets. We picked up 6 and the guys were asking what we do after they get a limit. That was the wrong thing to say. After 6 fish the bite stopped. I called Frank and he only had 4. No sense us running there. The other chatter on the radio was also very gloomy. I moved back in the area we started. The water was cleaner. The entire day was a slow pick but just enough to keep us there. We found some rat reds to keep our interest. We got a little flurry and our box count went up to 12. Once again I check with Frank and he is also struggling. He only has 6 and is now heading my way. There is one place in this pond he loves and I never go there. I find them in other places. Once he gets to his honey hole it is game on for him.

We watched him sit in one place as we added to our count also. This guy was the longest but it so skinny it made me look fat.

This one was a tournament fish at 26 1/2 inches and 7 1/2 pounds.

At the end of the day Frank has 20 in the box and I ended up only 17. We both had enough throwbacks to fill in the blanks during the day. Our 17 fish weighed in at 79 pounds and their 20 fish topped out at 82 pounds.

While out there a Skeeter comes in the pond. I had to take a second look. Back at the marina I get a picture of it. You see it "Twin 150's." BTW that Alumacraft was seen way offshore yesterday. No radar on any of them.

Over all a slow but very good day.

I have the same guys tomorrow and may try another pond near by if I can hide from the high winds. If not I may be forced to go back to the same place. I believe in not running from fish to find fish.
