What are some of the superstitions that you go by? what are some that you've heard of that are crazy or never heard of?

You never walk over a crab line EVER. Especially if it is not your own.
Or maybe that is etiquette drilled into me by my grandfather, either way, don't walk/fish/dance on the crab line people. |

Never been superstitious but my wife's grandmother oh wow. She had to leave through the door she entered. Many times at work we had to open a bay door after closing to let her out. She would not leave through a door she didn't use to enter. Never got that but it was her thing.

one that always works is if you want to get a bite, look away from your bait and sure enough that's when you get a hit lol.
another one is when you put your pole down to eat or get a drink and they will hit it |

It never fails! Another one along these lines are if your meal is taking a while to come out at a restaurant, go to the bathroom. It's almost guaranteed that's when your food will come out.

if you let someone use your knife, if you give it to them open----they've got to give it back open. same thing in reverse.

This was my dad's thing. So much so, it's now my thing.

![]() I always understood this was a respect thing and not a superstition thing. If a man chooses to give you his knife opened, then that's how he likes to change hands with his knife and since you are borrowing it you gotta give it back the way he prefers. If it's closed, give it back the same way |

Try not to catch a fish on my first cast of the day...
I got one buddy in particular that I'll ask for his advice and then after I get it I do the opposite which usually turns out better for me.. Was taught Murphy's Law as a little guy from my Dad and it still follows him |

No birds flying, case up guns and begin to pick up decoys and the birds are trying to land on your head. Old Cajun superstition: If you see hawks while you are duck hunting go to another spot

I was with a coworker and sweeping the floor when I brushed it on his boot. He grabbed the broom and spit on it. Anyone know the story behind this?
