My wife has recently gotten an interest in learning to preserve figs. I know it's late in the season but if anyone knows a place that she can go pick a couple gallons I'd be very appreciative.

This farmer's market in LC had a bunch of raw figs last week.... They were like $15 a gallon though. http://www.cashandcarryfarmersmarket.com/

There are two types of figs: celeste, and turkey. The celeste are the small greener figs, and the turkey are the larger browner figs. Drive around until you see a LARGE bush. Stop and speak kindly to the homeowner and ask if you can pick some figs or pick some figs for half share. They will be happy to share. You can pick every morning. If you don't pick the squirrels and birds will ruin that days providence. Bring a 6-8' step ladder. One pick low and one pick high.
