Headin' out to Home waters out of Empire: Bayou Cook/Grand Bayou. I'll be staying at a camp. Anyone else heading out there? If you'd like to coordinate, I don't mind at all tellin' you where I'm catchin' if you return the favor. I've been mostly absent from this board for a while, but I've got 36 years fishing the area. If you're interested, shoot me a PM or post up here.

Thanks for the info. I'll likely concentrate on Bastian, but may head over there if I don't find them.

Saturday was TOUGH with no discernable tide movement and all the storms around. Sunday was HOT, but I fished through it. Boated 30-40 trout without a single solid keeper. A few just over 12 inches, but I won't keep them until 13. Reds, drum, and sheepies saved the trip and were plentiful on Sunday. All keepers from Bayou Cook/Bay Bastian. I fished Grand Bayou and the washouts between Cook and Grand with no real luck. My friends using live bait got some nice ones, but I was all artie for trout. Momma wanted trout, but that will have to wait until the next trip.
One thing I found strange was how many hardheads I caught on sparkle beetles. That never happened when I was a kid. It was awesome to spend a couple nights out on Bayou Cook again. |
