just curious how old kids have to be before you can count them as an "angler" or extra person in the boat for an extra "limit". im pretty sure the man isnt gonna believe that my two and a half year old caught 15 specks

As long as he catches them it is okay. If the man is watching and you catch 30 you can't call 15 of them his. Or if one person would catch all 30, the 2 1/2 yr old better be able to know not to say " those are daddy's fish".

If it's like hunting I think they would need to be able to do everything themselves. That's what we were told when we asked a GW about a kid hunting. He said they had to be able to load the gun and show that they could shoot. So I'd imagine for fishing they would have to show that they could cast and retrieve? Would be a good time to give the GW a call to make sure you get the clear cut "rules" IMO.
