heres the dilemma, my gf is 4'10" so buying her a normal size 12ga for duck hunting is out. I need to buy her something in a 20ga that will be easy for her to shoot but still good performance to where it'll last. I really want to get her an auto loading 20ga. Now earlier at bass pro I saw a weatherby(499) and a remington 11-87(699) both were youth models. werent able to shoulder them due to the long lines. but anyone have any experience with either of these or another good quality auto loading 20 gauge you would recommend. really just looking for a good quality gun thats not gonna break the bank or her shoulder.

I have an 1100 20 gauge my dad bought me when I was 8. I still shoot it for teal season and since I won't be guiding, it will probably be what I goose hunt with this year. It's a super light and has zero recoil. It has been VERY reliable. Not sure about the1187, but the 1100 is for sure a good one

Can't beat a Remington 1100 with a stick for your purpose.

yea they look good and I know they are true but I didnt really want to spend $1100 on a 20ga and secondly they look like they are only full size and I doubt she could handle it. really would like to find a youth model with a 26 or 28 inch barrel

I have a Rem 1100LT 20 gauge that I might be willing to sell. I have no idea on its worth.

Not sure of the size but the recoil is low on the inertia driven guns.

I have a Benelli M1 and it shoots well but I personally just don't care for the Benelli action. Just bump the gun in the blind and the bolt backs off and it fails to shoot. Selling it and getting a Winchester SX3 20. Played around with one yesterday and they are VERY nice.

Sweet thanks for the input. I'm a beretta man myself and I just realized that they make a youth 20ga. Gonna try to search around town tomorrow to try n put my hands on one and see how it feels. Lil more pricey than I initially wanted but I own all beretta 12ga and will not own anything else and since they make one, I may go that route possibly. But keep the opinions coming guys. Any input is useful

Great gun. It has a 1" removable spacer in the stock to shorten the LOP? Bought one for my 14 year old son last fall. Got about 700 rounds through it without issue. When I got it I took the spacer out and added a Limbsaver recoil pad, since he grew bout a foot in the last 10 months, I put the spacer back in. |

Only thing I dislike about the beretta is its a beautiful gun and the first thing I want to do with it is have it black-T'd and camp dipped and it doesn't appear to be offered in synthetic

1100 is an easy to handle gun, there are tons of good condition used 1100's out there.

I'm 5'2" and shoot a 12 guage. Have been shooting that size since I was very young with no problem. Did she try a 12 guage? Might like it.

Well I let her hold a 26" beretta a400 and it was way too bulky for her. If I could find a youth 12ga with little recoil I might would get that if it fit her

Any beretta or Benelli 12 gauge is low on recoil. Especially the gas operated berettas. I have an extrema and it hardly kicks at all. I don't have kick off system either. A 20 gauge is plenty of power for duck hunting though so its not a bad choice either
