My BL trip today..6-6-12

well i finally got alil time off from work to go fishin..brought a buddy of mine and his son with me...being i am clueless on catching fish on big lake i stopped at calc. point and bought some live skrimps then headed to heberts landing...got there bout noonish yes alil late but we got there ...crossed the lake and ran south stopping here and there...nothing...went to the jettys..nothing....started back then stopped at the entrance to west cove by the hardhead point camp...picked up a croaker ....ran back into big lake and stopped at the old jettys and finally started catching something besides hardheads and croakers.....one 12.5" trout and undersized reds...

Then the weather moved in on us bout 4ish...we pulled anchor and decided to head in...3ft chop all the way back in....nasty and rough but the ole cape horn ate it up....but while i'm driving my buddy decides to call his sister and mom (unbeknownst to me) and tell them if they dont hear from us to call the coast guard lol his mom freaks out and calls the cameron sheriffs dept and they were leaving messages on my phone and countless other ppl calling me....needless to say i was kinda pissed lol...other than this lil bit of drama i had a good time....came home with a few trout that was given to us at calc. point by some guys that didnt want to clean them lol....THANKS!! came home then went to a crawfish boil and drank lots of beer heck of a day...

lessons learned....no mid day trips to BL....if there is a hint of rough weather dont bring same buddy(puss)...even if you have live skrimps..doesnt mean you can catch anything...lol
