Set up in the wrong spot this morning for woodies. 100 yards off flight path. Stuck it out until 12:30 when I got my 4 mallards. Birds started flying at 10:30. All mallards till I left, biggest flock was 6 and lots of pairs. Some group of hunters about a half mile from me must have shot 3 boxes of shells. Most flocks circled at least 5-10 times before committing. Mouth calling to imitate the drake quack (very quiet) really got them excited. Would have finished quick but guys next to me kept shooting up a storm when birds were circling. Decoys consisted of 10 teal and 2 pairs set 50 yards down wind of the teal. Honey holes in the swamp are producing for a few folks. Shoot straight.

Nothing like yesterday. 4 blue wings and a pintail drake...wierd. Stayed till 2 waiting for the mallards. Seen about 5 flights of mallards but the wind kept switching. Tons of specks flying as well. Heard lots of trees snapping. Shooting came from all different directions today. Scouted later and found a few mallards in the timber. Got about 50 yards from them, very reluctant to jump. Swam into thick, nasty brush in a hurry. Birds are real wary. Killed 2 water moccasins and seen a small gator. Be careful and shoot straight.
