The low down by Cuba has a 80% chance of forming a tropical depression in the next 48 hours. Some of the models have it going into the Texas coast or as far east as SW La. on Friday to Saturday. Currently it is shown as a tropical storm on landfall.

Yes, we are. While we are getting plenty of rain now, we are still way behind. It is affecting the underground water tables. It will take alot to get us out of the drought.
They update the drought numbers on Thursday and I expect we will go down a notch from extreme to whatever is next. |

I just got word we are evacuating WC 587, which is a P&A job so it is not that big of a deal on the production side. We do have lots of vessels and divers there, so we are shutting them down till we get it out of our way, just to be on the safe side.

Question.....isn't this kinda "knee jerk"? Theyre having a hard time even calling it a low pressure system

This is a P&A job!!!!! Why would we want our crews getting absolutely nothing done on the clock, except trying to keep them from passing out from dehydration due to seasickness. Get them in, let it pass, then send them back out. The platform has been shut in for 5 months, not like the oil company is missing any revenue.

Ok. Was just wondering. Since all the big ones 4 and 5yrs back, folks tend to overcompensate.

All I know is, if this thing continues like it is scheduled, we will have some very, very happy people in Texas! My boss is jumping for joy right now - he has a lease outside of Laredo.
