Default Vacation Suggestions

Ok my friends, need some help. I am not one for family vacations......at all! Otherwise known as a "grouch" to the kids, I just don't enjoy several hours on the road to go spend a bucket full of money on some place they could care less about.

With work crazy right now, both my wife and I are pressed for time to get in a vacation with the kids. If it was up to me, we would rent a camp at Grand Isle and spend 4-5 days there. But she wants a little more than "something they get to do all the time" and I want to keep it simple.

Any suggestions before I rain on their parade and hook up to the Blazer rolling southbound and say **** it!

I used to bring the family to the beach and I would boat ride for 3 or 4 days. Ono Island, Pensecola, Perdido Bay, Tacky Jacks, Pirates Cove. When I got home at dark, it was time for a bath ,food and sleep. I never heard them when I hit the rack. Get up the next day and do it all over again.

How old are the kids? Aside from fishing, what are some common interests?

Why? Was thinking like a Jellystone Park(I think that's the name) and it's right here in state. A lot of fun stuff for the younger kids and isn't ridiculous in price.

I have been to hot springs it su*ks to me. We just got back Sunday from the buffalo river area it was ok. We are leaving for pigeon forge/Gatlinburg on Sunday. I HIGHLY recommend the Smokey Mountains. Tons of stuff to do and not that bad of a drive. We go every year. Sometimes twice a year. Drop me a PM with your number and I can give you a call with some recommendations.

Did that last summer, and it was nice. We did the Chattanooga Piegon to Gatlinburg deal over a week. Might try to find some place in AR w/ a big houseboat on a lake or something.

Smokey Mountains are a beautiful sight! Hiking, fishing, horseback riding, you name it. I used to work out there a lot and it was always one of my favorite areas to pass through! Breathtaking views along I-40!

we are going to San Antonio to check out Sea World, Hall of Hornes, there is shliterbon, drive through Zoo, Natural bridge caverns, white water rafting. Its not that far to drive and reasonable priced for a three or four day trip.

This is what I would suggest. Might want to check and see if the water is even moving in the river to go tubing.

cricket. you will be impressed with San antonio. We went to the zoo and natural bridge caverns. A site to see. You HAVE TO go on the underground tour. Bring good shoes because it is a 4 mile walk. its a blast! !!

Great wolf lodge in Grapevine, TX is awesome! Its basically a resort built around a massive indoor waterpark. Hotel and fun all in one place.
