Default Am I just too old or something? . . .

Last Tuesday I got a little Christmas spirit and I put my cross up. Thursday, my neighbor told me that his daughter asked him what the decoration in my yard was. Teenagers walking past my house laughed and asked me if I could afford some real lights. What in the world . . . . We bought our house 32 years ago and the first decoration was that cross that I made out of scrap boards leftover from the house. I did put up more of the decorations that our daughter has grown up with . . . I am disappointed that it has lost it's meaning for a whole lot more people than those of us who choose to stay the course . . .make you a cross today and celebrate . . . . Merry Christmas . . .

Amen to that!

Some of that burden falls on their parents too! More parents fault than the kid's really. I'd slap the taste out one my kid' mouths for laughing at that! When they got their senses back, they'd be coming to apologize and get some history lessons from the owner of the cross too! That's just me though...

That's what is wrong with this world. Parents don't apply the foot to *** policy anymore.

Correction...

Respect can be forced/taught/enforced. It was where I grew up and will be where my kids grow up. Not Christian?, that's ok. Should your kids laugh at my beliefs or willingness to display them?... Hell no! That's my philosophy anyway.

The way I see it, to laugh at a man's beliefs is to berate a man.

The US has become too tolerant with too many things, IMO. Laugh at the tower crashers though and your apt to crucified yourself! Sad situation we live in.

PReaux, I applaud your "simple" ornament!

you have every right in the world to teach/force YOUR OWN kids whatever you would like...but it is non of your business what everyone elses kids are doing...that is whats wrong with the world...too many people worried about everybody elses problems and not putting enough emphasis on their own

Heres a saying I once heard.

It only takes 2 people to have a kid, but it takes an entire village to raise him.

I can understand your point a-rick.........
I remember years ago, my brother was always in trouble......and my parents always blamed "those boys" he hung around with. I am positive "those boys" parents where saying the same thing.....thus no parent making their child responsible.......

However, and make no mistake here, the devil uses those little small aquiesences (sp) to fool us as a people and eat us one bite at a time.

When we all "do what is right for us" and not look past our own white picket fence, forget about our neighbor and fellow man, become a people of "me" , population one........then my friend THE EVIL ONE WILL HAVE HIS DAY.

Not implying you feel that way at all, like I said I see your point, and always appreciate your post......

Well, myself and many others here and elsewhere appreciate your belief. It's sad that there are people in this world who don't understand it or have the love that is portrayed by that cross. Keep up the good work and I think I'll be building one of those "simple" ornaments after church. Thanks for sharing! You've inspired me to build one by posting this! Btw, it will go out in front of all the Walmart type stuff we have out.

If it wasn't for the Cross, we wouldn't have Christmas, there would be no reason!
