Hairout People in a Grey and White Ranger Bay

If this is you.....
You are not supposed to run full throttle into the middle of a giant flock of birds then stop and try to fish. Thanks for killing a good bite

Week days are better than weekends, but still never good.
If they see you fishing, they will come to you.
Me and Jordan left the launch before dark. Got to Turners Island before daylight.
We were the only boat in the lake at this time.
Along comes a small boat, pulls up right next to us and starts fishing.
We move, he followed us.
When daylight hit, the boats swarmed us.

you're exactly right man. When i was young all i'd do is freshwater fish with my dad and brother in bayous and small lakes. Whenever you were running and came up to another boat you would slow the boat to an idle and go to the opposite side of the bayou. The past 3-4 years, I have to say that barely ANYONE does that. Now they'll slow their boat down to where they are almost on step and throw a huge wake over your bow, while they are a rods reach from your boat. You would think that they just don't have any common courtesy, but i think the fact is that they are just to stupid and ignorant to think that maybe they are messing up someone's bite.

As far as saltwater goes, which I'm fairly new to (only been fishing saltwater 4-5 years) People don't seem like they know any common courtesy/sense much less know how to find fish. At least once a day, I see ppl with binoculars looking at other boats to see if they are catching and what they are fishing with, instead of looking for bait activity or any other sign of fish like current lines, slicks, BIRDS!, or just maybe a good looking washout or cut. It drives me insane that they just don't have any know how unless they are surrounded by boats.

Sorry this kind of stuff really "grinds my gears," especially when they anchor their boat right where your casts are landing, which happened to me this past weekend and killed an awesome bite i had going. I could literally look around and as I'm reeling in fish after fish i see the ppl around me picking up anchor and directly their trolling motor full speed at me! I WOULD NEVER DO SUCH A THING. I may take into consideration the area they are fishing and set up another drift but never get 2 casts from their boat! K I'll stop other wise I'll keep going.

Pretty funny right there, but you're right. Kind of an "all hat no cattle" thing.

You know, I've really started fishing a lot more in lake areas lately. I now fish popular areas more than I ever have. I couldn't imagine rolling up on someone so close that without a 12x zoom, they could get a detailed picture of me! There are fish everywhere in these areas and even I realize that. I don't think I've fished within a couple hundred yards of anyone until last weekend when LPfishnTim and I TROLLED past another boat in a canal. Close enough to talk but still not close enough to swap paint or piss anyone off!

I thing I'll start keeping a rod set up with nothing more than a 3 oz weight in case this kind of crap ever happens to me!

That's friggin sad! Well, maybe they lurk around in these forums and will see this post. Although they'll never likely come forth, maybe they'll learn that their practices aren't appreciated.

People who motor up into a group of birds, then expect to catch fish are not clearly thinking and evidently do not understand how a school of fish will spook. Also, how disrespectful it is to the other people already fishing a school of fish. I understand ya'lls frustration.

we had one jackazz in a blue/white boat with a goofy, giant, tall, white antenna run into our birds, drop the tm hard, caught 2 fish, ran the birds off, THEN cranked his big motor and took off right in front of us!
THEN he proceded to do the same thing to a guy in a jonboat that we had been watching quietly working a set of his own. after sucessfully ruining that guy's bite.. he then ran over to the only other boat in the bay and ruined their bite too.
AFTER ALL THIS....we eventually got our limit and we had gotten back on a small set of birds for catch and release fish and who do we see coming back at full throttle?? yep, big white antenna guy! he wasn't gonna do it to us again so we waited till he got close and we jumped in the bottom of the boat, started our big motor and made as much noise leaving the area as possible, scattering the birds in every direction!

It would be cool if someone would type up a fishing ettiquette "Dos and Don'ts" document, written with a cool head and just the facts (no sarcasm and no unrealistic rules, like don't ever pass within 2 miles of another boat...just rules that you follow yourself, without fail). I would be happy to post it in the FAQ docs.

excelent idea, im thinkin that' gonna be a long list filled with stuff like "Do practice backing your boat in a parking lot before going to the launch for the first time." and "Don't block 2 of the 3 launch slips at cal point with your big obnoxious lsu boat on saturday morning at daybreak!"

I could cut it down to one.... "Do have respect for others." but thats wishful thinkin.
