omg fished grand isle friday with hellufied winds.found a guy out in the middle of the bay wearin a life jacket swingin a paddle.we stop n get him outta the water and he explains to us that his girlfriend and son are stranded on sum rocks.come ta find out,he bought his boat off the showroom floor thursday at 10 a.m. and put it in the water at 2 p.m. well he got lost and ran the sucker outta gas lookin fer his way back.they drifted since 5 p.m. when they hit the rocks at 3 a.m. then he took off in the water alone ta find help. we come around the islandanbd we find that bob had already located the boat and other two people and was callin in the coast guard.well he and his crew were saved by the coast guard and are livin proof that the coast guard kicks ***.just give all praise n glory ta god that these people were saved and not floatin out in the gulf.they launched their boat in myrtle grove and we estimated that they drifted over forty miles!!!! saltycajuns were respresentin in grand isle

Why did he allow himself to drift that far??? Did he try throwing out the anchor, or fashioning some sort of drift sock with a bucket ???

Why did he leave the boat also? It is easier to spot a boat than to spot a person in the water. Glad these people are OK, but I think he needs some education on boating. Warren |

Now for the rest of the story, Bet he didn't have GPS or VHF. Had no clue where he was or where he was going. Glad he and his family were rescued , BUT he never should have been out there in the first place. Another fool w/ enough $$$ to buy a boat ,But not enough sense to learn about using one. ![]() |

well i know a feller that fished a tournament yesterday who had just bought a haynie boat not to long ago and on the way back to the landing ran out of gas and was stranded for a good while. i would never have thought it would happen to him because he lives and breaths on the water. *****

dude aint kiddin, he was clueless. he wasnt worried bout that gal n her son at all.that boat was more important. it was an aluminum hull with a walk through glass console. i cant believe he spent 28000 on a boat with no gps or nothin.then he goes n jumps in the darn water ta look fer help. guys i was totally upset about the guys attitude but i was just gladf that they were all safe.

I think I could have found a cheaper way to dump my girlfriend than that.
