Default 11-28-10 Turner's

Decided to head out this morning and see what it was like to get the balls frozen off of my brass monkey.

Hit the water @ 7am. Headed to Turner's w/about 10 other boats. Only saw one flock of birds working, and that broke up after about 10 minutes (and 3 boats).

Ended up putting 2 17-18" trout in the boat by 9am on plastics. Was double rigging and both hit an unnamed pearl / glitter 4" saltwater assassin w/chartreuse tail vs. chartreuse sparkle beetle and gulp molting shrimp.

Wind picked up a good bit, so I went and ran around in the back water for a bit.

Returned to Turner's around 2pm after running south a bit to see how nasty the water was (texaco cut area was pretty funky). Ended up putting 1 more 19" in the boat on a gulp new penny shrimp.

Hard fishing, for me anyway. Didn't really see anyone else tearing 'em up either. Live bait or not. (cue the "everyone but you limited by 6:45am" reports....)

future fishing, its 11-27 today, and its always going to be hard fishing the day after a cold front, I don't think that many people limited out today and if they did they got lucky!

I picked up 12 in turners. Ran to another spot off the channel and caught a butt load of reds. Kept 5 that I gave away at the dock.

I forgot that a limit is 15 over there, I was thinking it was 25 like over here.

Nope. No limit here. I stayed in Turners Bay and anchored/drifted over the reefs and used plastics also. All I caught on the Gulp was large black drum. I used a new plastic lure (not telling until I try it out some more). Here is what I kept. Released some big bull reds, smaller trout, and black drum.

Sounds like we did pretty good, Alphaman. I was the white guy in the boat with Alpha!

It was his first time out. I've fished around Big Lake area about 10 times before, but only my 2nd time fishing Turner's. I usually launch at Hebert's and fish Commissary, but getting to the point where unless there's not a flicker of any leaf of any tree down there, I'm going to fish Turner's! Still trying to learn the area and where to go depending on wind, etc.

I really didn't think we'd do as good as we did being barely 24 hours after the front moved through. Alpha wanted bad to bag a limit. We got to the spot in West Pass around 10am and had 20 specks by about 12:15pm. Only one more from that time to 2:30pm, when we decided to head on in.

I was the dude freezing his nuts off in the bass tracker with the stuck starter drive gear (got it banged loose eventually -- rebuilding today).

Weren't a lot of boats out, so I figured we all saw each other at least once.

Somewhat humorous... As I was driving in from Lafayette and listening to Don Dubuc on the radio. At least 2 guides from the New Orleans / MS area mentioned fishing with black plastics. That's the one color I didn't try.

Also my first try with Gulp! Alive! baits. I understand the whole bio-degradable thing, but they sure as hell get tore up pretty good after only 1 fish and/or getting snagged on the bottom a few times.
