Vermillion bay was beautiful yesterday!! Water was slick!! And the hammock was hot. 30 boats all catching there share of specks! We got out there around 8. Should have been there earlier, but My quater lid popped off my igloo and mashed a guys windshield on hwy 90. How wonderful!! Well we ended up with 15 nice trout biggest 19" long 3 to 4lb I would say.

I launched my kayak at the park this morning around 9am. Quintana launch was competely full. Spotted about 15 boats in the cove when I drove up. By the time I got the yak in the water and paddled out nearly half were gone. water was low and not moving. fished plastics for a couple of hours without a fish. Saw one boat catch a big drum on shrimp and that was it. Did not see anyone catch a trout.
I fished the Delcambre canal a couple of days ago near the Hwy 14 bridge and caught some reds, freshwater cats and several huge drum(released). Gonna try the Prien lake area tomorrow morning, should be good conditions. |

are you talking about the actual Hammock Lake that's only about 2 ft. deep, or are you referring to the general area on the other side of the Point where the nice camps are? Can't see too many people fishing Hammock Lake with water depths as shallow as it is.

that makes more sense. I know I've trolled in the lake and have hit oyster shells with my trolling motor it's so shallow. Are they fishing by the newer opening to the west, or the original Eastern opening where Hammock Bayou comes out?

The shell reef that off the first point heading twards the hammock lake. It's shell and cypress stumps the reef. This reef is directly in line with that point. Hope this helps u out.

Dead Cypress Point or Dead Cypress Island...looks like it's the point between the opening of Hammock Bayou and the opening to Hammock Lake.

When I fished it I would generally fish from the point @ 29 42' 18.51"N;91 51'31.27"W
to the cut located at about 29 42'30.48"N;91 51'03.54"W... Good luck. You'll probably have to conver the GPS points before they'll work in your GPS |

LOL, I would have given anything when I first started fishing to have some gps points. The bay is so tough to fish as it is and the people who fish it are so hush hush, I figured I'll help where I can. |

I feel you bro, that's why I don't fish for trout in the cove or weeks bay or the trashpile until Gun opens for Deer season, thins the crowds out a little. I'm at the point now where I would rather catch 5-10 reds and some flounder by myself than 100 trout with people casting 5 feet from my boat. |
